Elo Meals ("Elo", "we", "us") operates the elomeals.app website and the Elo mobile app — a voice-based meal-planning assistant for households. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Voice recordings and conversation transcripts. When you talk to Elo, your microphone audio is streamed to our servers and to the AI providers that power the assistant so it can respond. Transcripts of your conversations are stored so your plans and preferences carry over between sessions.
- Household and dietary information. The names or nicknames you give for the people you cook for, and their food allergies, dietary restrictions, dislikes, and preferences. Allergy and dietary information is health-related data; it exists solely so Elo never suggests a meal that could harm someone in your household.
- Meal plans and food data. The meals you plan, recipes, grocery lists, and pantry items.
- A household identifier. A random ID created on your device that ties your household's data together. It is not your name, email, or a device advertising identifier.
- Reliability data. Technical signals about voice sessions (for example, audio stalls and response delays) so we can find and fix problems.
- Account details (if you create an account). If you sign in with Apple or email, we collect the email address associated with your account. Creating an account is optional.
- Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist on our website, the email address you provide.
How we use it
- To run the assistant: plan meals, remember your household's needs, and keep every suggestion safe against the allergies and restrictions you've told us about.
- To keep your plans, preferences, and grocery lists in sync across sessions.
- To diagnose and fix reliability problems in voice conversations.
- To notify waitlist members when access opens, with product updates you can opt out of at any time.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of service providers to run Elo, under their respective data-processing terms: AI providers that power the voice assistant (Google's Gemini API, and Microsoft Azure as a fallback), our database and authentication provider (Supabase), and our hosting providers. Your audio and conversation content is sent to the AI providers only to generate the assistant's responses. We do not use your data to train our own models.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your data for advertising or track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or location.
Deleting your data
You can delete your household's data — family members, dietary information, meal plans, and conversation history — and your account directly in the app: open the Family screen and choose Delete Account & All Data. Deletion is permanent. You can also email us (below) and we'll do it for you.
Data retention
We keep your household's data for as long as you use Elo so the assistant can remember your preferences. Conversation transcripts are retained to provide continuity between sessions and to improve reliability. Everything is removed when you delete your account as described above.
Children
Elo is intended for adults planning meals for their households. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Family members you describe to Elo (such as your kids' food allergies) are part of your household's account, provided by you.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update this page and the date above.
